The Humane Society of West Michigan is pleased to announce that we are one of only 4 shelters in Michigan to be a part of "Pets for Patriots" program! Pets for Patriots is a 501(c)(3) charity connecting shelter pets with members of the U.S. military. In doing so, this partnership gives the transformative, healing powers of companion pets to those that serve, or served, our country. Individuals are eligible to join this program at any stage of their careers and from all armed forces. By adopting eligible dogs and cats through Humane Society of West Michigan, Pets for Patriots members gain access to ongoing discounted veterinary care and financial support towards the purchase of pet food and other basics.

Veterans gain a new sense of purpose and a new pet friend when they save a last-chance dog or cat. Extraordinary, everyday animals who find themselves in shelters through no fault of their own, waiting for their hero.
